The planet earth is facing an unbalance climatic behavior due to substantial
change in the environmental temperature. A significant rise in the average
temperature of earth's atmosphere and oceans has been observed. In the 20th
century a rose of 1.1 Fahrenheit was recorded and is still projected to
mount. In 2007 UN intergovernmental panel reported that by 2100 the earth
would face an increment of 3.2 to 7.2 Fahrenheit.
All these consequence is the result of global warming. The green house gases
namely carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide and methane, capture heat
and light from the sun rays and intensify the temperature. The main cause of
the global warming is the sustaining of these dangerous gases in the
environment. As they don’t escape back to space, their existence heat up the
atmosphere, hurting the lives of living beings i.e. human, animals and
plants. Man itself is the major cause of pollution and contamination. A
massive rose in industrializations, releasing poisonous gases from cars and
planes, combusting engines, electricity production, wars, deforestation and
other litters and fumes all contribute in making the situation even more
worst.
The present cycle of global warming has placed bad impact on the rhythms of
climate. The seasons depict abnormal behaviors in different areas of land.
Summers become warmer and drier while winters suffer from heavy rain falls.
A massive mount in the number of storms, floods and droughts have also been
observed. High temperature has caused the sea level to rise. Icy glaciers of
Antarctic and Greenland are continuously melting, that result in the
expansion of seas and oceans. By the beginning of the next century a rise of
20 to 40 cm has been projected. A dreadful risk from the agricultural side
has also been examined. The irregularity in weather changes also affected
the growth and cultivation of crops like rice, sugar cane, maize and other
vegetations. This results in horrifying threat of hunger and starvation.
Not only human, the homes of animals and plants are also in danger. As the
ice at the north and south poles is constantly melting, the existence of
polar bears, penguins, seals and other creatures are not far from their
drastic ends.
It is also a fact that without the presence of these greenhouse gases, the
earth would become extremely cold. As there would be no heat in the
atmosphere, the earth would be no more a place of living. Therefore we need
to preserve naturally occurring greenhouse gases. The greenhouse effect has
helped out the earth to offer live, continuing living beings to breath.
Global warming is a moral issue which obliged each of us to join our hands
together to make our own land a piece of soil where all the creatures can
enjoy a lungful of air, liberty and freedom.
