Human race has always been the facer of such health-related complications,
issues, and problems, complete solutions to which or answers which can
possibly lead to finding of solutions, have never been found. Among these
problems, those of related to the mental health of a man are far more
complicated than those related to other parts of a human body. A study,
which deals with these kinds of problems, is known as neurology. Under the
heading of this study, these problems or complications are grouped as
neurological disorders. Despite the fact that this is the most worked upon
area of medical science, there exists a host of mental diseases, which still
asks for more human exertion for finding comprehensive answers to questions
taking their heads out during budding of such issues. One such neurological
disorder, prey of which is children of less than 3 years of age, is known as
Autism. It is a disorder, which harms the social interaction and
communication aptitude of a child, by compelling it to become an adopter of
restrictive and repetitive behaviors.
Autism had never got a status of hot issue in the science of medicine in the
past. In other words, the way it has dragged significant proportion of
neuroscientists’ attention today, has never been able to do formerly.
Another fact, which can be given as reason for this fact, is autism’s
augmentation in today’s world. It has become one of the fastest growing
mental disabilities in the world, and the most challenging one as well. What
makes it so exigent, is a wide variety of issues related to this disease.
Those are:
- Despite the fact that autism has now become possible to be diagnosed at a
very early stage, but due to lack of awareness about this disease in the
society, parents often fail to note unusual behavior of their infants.
- Choosing the right therapy for their autism suffered child is certainly a
difficult activity to indulge in, as there are so many treatments, which are
available for autism.
- No such treatment to autism has been found up till now, which could be
regarded as cent percent safe i.e. a treatment having no side effects or a
treatment, which is agreed upon by a majority of neuroscientists. Number and
caliber of potential dangers, attached to every single treatment, are
incalculable and unidentified respectively.
- Another challenge for neurologists is to give a clear-cut answer to a
frequently asked question by those parents, whose first child suffers from
Autism and i.e. “Will our next child be autistic as well?”
Although there are a number of other treatments including biomedical and
dietary approaches, which could be regarded as comparably safer. Hopefully,
a further work on these approaches might lead us to the future, where we
might be able to address every autism-related issue with much more
confidence than we currently can.
