Paper on History of Visual Communication
(First 3 Pages)
If we accept the perspective that literate civilizations
began when the invention of writing permitted the past to be recorded and
determined, then literate civilization began when conventional
representation of objects and conventionalized representations of body
language signs were assorted in order. Such written languages were above all
sequential arrangements of culturally crucial representations. Accordingly,
they were very distinct from the language representational systems that
advanced later in which the writing represented sounds of spoken language.
Somewhere in the history of these early civilizations man came to a kind of
watershed in which language primarily representational and semantic in its
application of visual or sound signs was converted to or replaced by
language fundamentally characterized by the illustration of sounds of spoken
language.

In the written European languages letters denote sounds or association of
sounds. Even when a civilization had developed sound representational
systems, however, sign and conventionalized semantic representational
systems sustained to be used. They tended, however, to be exercised in
confined situations. Temples in India, for example, in some cases are
garnished with sequential representational messages. Egyptian, early Greek,
and other civilizations have used friezes on buildings to present some
interweave of proposition. In general, however, until relatively recent
times, visual communication of this kind shielded more and more to incline
toward single visual compositions not intended to be linked to others
sequentially. Composers of visual messages tended to be concerned only with
the semantics within a single frame. The rapid sequential presentation of
projected film form comes forth promptly. Almost as promptly came the
outburst of the pioneers and creators of the motion picture medium whose
imaginative insights into the repression’s and opportunities of the new
visual language began to shape the language habits of every person who
viewed their films.

The recent accessibility of low-cost powerful workstations and PCs has
provoked a staggering extension in the amount and quality of digital data,
which encompass still images, video clips and sound. The question of
managing such a large volume of information has become very significant for
researchers who need effective and simple passage to the data. The Internet
has seen explosive development during the last few years and carry through
to grow at a staggering rate, reckoning new users from every imaginable
profession each day. The main rationalization for the immense popularity of
the Internet is the admittance it render to vast and up-to-date repositories
of information ranging from television footage to research publications.
However, the large number of users and amount of information involved has
propelled the need for development of utilities and software tools that
facilitate organization of repositories for easy and efficient access. More
recently, middleware applications and services such as the World Wide Web,
WAIS, gopher, and many others have pushed to organize the masses of
information and furnish capable mechanisms for accessing and searching the
information space. Although these achievements represent a notable advance,
the swift proliferation of new information media, especially multimedia
information such as images, video, and sound, will need new or refined
middleware services to effectively handle such information.
Establishing communication between objects that run in different processes
whether on the same computer or across the Internet is a common development
goal, especially when constructing widely distributed function.
Traditionally, this has requisite in-depth knowledge not only of the objects
on either end of the communication flow, but also of a host of lower-level
protocols, operation programming interfaces, and arrangement tools or files.
In short, it was a complex task demanding substantial thought and
undergoing. The .NET Framework and technologies such as ATL Server provide
certain ways to communicate with objects in distinct application dominion in
a usual and scalable manner.
