This paper has two main objectives. First, it seeks to acquaint us with some of the most significant recent work on the dating, with emphasis on works that integrate the social and cultural dimensions in America. Secondly, it encourages us to think concerning issues in the study of dating, among them the causes of dating, the effect of dating on society and the effect of society on the conduct of dating, the problems of writing operational or battle history, and the ways in which myth-making about specific wars or warfare in general can hamper precise understanding of dating.

The most significant change in the 20th society is without any doubt the gradual overcoming of the Eurocentric view of the 19th century. In parallel we are witnessing a decrease of the hierarchical structures of the 19th century both on the international level, as we tend to identify today the existence of a multiplicity of cultures and worldviews, and on the societal level where inequalities between the various classes have reduced. Today more people than ever before engage in cultural activities. As we have begun to learn, there is a long and often saddening history of race relations in this country. And, from all appearances, a respectable amount of energy is still spent on the subject.

In older times one's race was a factor that was not ignored or be blind to. There was a time when any social contact with an ethnic minority was considered as culturally oppressive. However, the modern times have shown that race impacts the way one interacts in the world, as well as the culture of an individual. Love between persons of opposite races is a positive component of diversity. This love often does not take place within the confines of a bubble. However, interracial dating can imperil some of the most painful elements of racism. When someone experiences racism on an intimate level, the agony experienced is like no other.

In a more modern America friendships and relationships are materializing without attention paid to the race of an individual. Even in high school, no one ever uttered the term interracial relationships even if they dwell in high numbers. Dating is an important signal of acceptance for adolescent boys and girls in America. To many, America is an overwhelming place, so much so that thoughts of self-hatred and destruction are now not scattered throughout the whole society. Inter-cultural dating is thriving, as adolescents are primarily concerned with discovering, exploring, and founding their own identity. Self-image is now firmly established on their values and beliefs about the world, and the perceptions they sense others keep about them.

All young people, most of whom are second generation Americans, deal with two competing cultural orientations and two separate value systems regarding appropriate adolescent behavior. When developing their individual self-image, these youngsters are impelled to reflect on both systems. They are pressured by elders to stay loyal to the beliefs of their native culture and yet they are in love to the ways of American adolescents. While desirous of to fit into the mainstream, they feel an obligation to persevere the values of their heritage.

The bicultural and bilingual nature of adjusting to America gives birth to complications. These youngsters may question whether speaking English and becoming American, parallel to speaking their first language and behaving in their traditional ways obligates giving up too much change in their sense of self. While these youth realize the importance of finding a new identity in America and incorporating many of its ways, they are unsure as to what degree each culture should progress a part of the new identity.

What’s love got to do with it? It’s a question many people have asked over and over again, but it is difficult to answer. In relationships today, though, more and more people are search for an appropriate answer. Traditionally, when a person “loves” someone else, the couple forms a monogamous relationship, in which both partners are exclusive to one another. Today’s culture, however, is one of exploration and openness, and that curiosity hold forth itself into dating relationships. A couple could long to share their lives together in a lifelong commitments where they could have shared life paths, goals, views on politics, economics, housing, and values, but still want more. Young people are particularly susceptible to this want. I am noticing that many people are doing fine with the ‘open inter cultural relationship’.

Conclusion
It has become more clear to me that in today's society with all it's talk of multi-culturalism and melting pot rhetoric it is openly clear that much of the discourse as regards the social world is rooted in Euro-centric research and ideology. As such, I content that it is the role of the minority sociologists to shift the center of inquiry from a European focus to one that is inclusive of all people represented in this society. As my family discerns no divide, only one beautiful human race filled with lots of unique individuals, we feel that which we put forth. Because we are not busy looking for differences to divide us from others, but instead are looking for the things that unite us in our common humanity, we appear to pull in a wide group of people with whom we spend time-sharing and exploring.
