Plato in his philosophy gives a prominent place to the idea of justice.
Plato was very dissatisfied with the prevalent deteriorating conditions in
Athens. The Athenian democracy was on the brink of destruction and was
actually liable for Socrates’ death. The amateur interference and excessive
individualism became main targets of Plato's philosophy, which came in the
form of the construction of an ideal society in which justice reigned
supreme. Plato believed justice to be the remedy for curing these evils.
Plato theory of justice individually is that in which justice is a 'human
virtue' that makes a person self-consistent and good and that socially,
justice is a social consciousness that makes a society centrally friendly
and good. Plato regards justice a sort of specialization.
For Plato justice is a part of human virtue, which joins man together in
society. It is an order and duty of the parts of the soul. Plato says that
justice is not just strength, but it is a harmonious strength and it is not
the right of the stronger but the effective harmony of the whole. All moral
thoughts revolve about the good of the whole individual as well as social.
